» Blog Archive Neurosis Album Review "Honor Found in Decay" -
Amanda Harvey Hard Music, News, Reviews

Since 1985, Neurosis has been bringing a mixture of heavy metal, acoustic, and punk to our ears landing them a spot to stay in the doom metal scene. Jose Carlos Santos of Terrorizer has stated that Neurosis is “arguably the most influential band of the past two decades.” With a slough of ever changing members, two decades, and a rise to fame following their tour in the 90’s with Pantera, It’s no surprise that the release of Neurosis’ new album Honor Found In Decay is eagerly awaited worldwide.
Honor Found In Decay will be Neurosis’ tenth full length album since the band originated in the mid 80’s. This hour long album being released on October 30th is stated to be the most “emotional and diverse” material that the band has put out to date. Having listened to a short samples of this album it’s the first mass producible materiel that I’ve heard from them. They’ve come a very long way from their early trash noise style punk. Their new sound is a well developed, high energy, clean product that any hard music listener can appreciate. Listening through tracks you can hear the path this band has taken in genre running through out the years. There are many heavy metal drum lines, mixed with fast pace punk guitar solos. There’s also a little bit of intense guitar thrashing for all their metal head followers as well. Having toured with the greats and been more than just around the block through the years has left us with the awesome product that is modern day Neurosis.
A matured and developed music sense isn’t the only thing the nearly two decade old band has mastered. The art of performance and visual effects found in any one of their shows is something to write home about. If previous tours are of any indication of the down the rabbit hole status of their live performances to come, then you can definitely expect excellence.
Needless to say, this album is going to bridge the gaping hole left in listeners lives after Given to the Rising with a new more intimate sound. Get your headphone on and horns out, it’s going to be quite the ride.
