In the early 80’s, before the great digital age of animation and CGI, movies and television were a minagerie of amazing 2d hand drawn animation and amazing pupeteers creating awesome imaginary characters we all grew up with. One of those creations was a little half hour show called “The Great Space Coaster”. It featured several character puppets and humans interacting on what was The great Spcae Coaster which transports 3 singers to a asteroid populated by all sorts of puppet characters. (One of the puppeteers was a young and up and comer named Kevin Clash, Mr. Elmo himself) One of the more popular puppet characters was one Gary Gnu, a news reporter who would always open and close his broadcast with the catchphrase…”No Gnews Is Good Gnews” Flash forward to today, one of the pupeteers of the show, Jim Martin has been on a crusade to save the show from extinction…literally. A campaign has been under way to physically save The Great Space Coaster by transfering the original tapes to a digital format.
