Sounds from the South, Loincloth is a three piece instrumental progressive metal group. Iron Balls of Steel is their third attempt & they’ve cleaned up quite a bit. The bass player & drummer come from Confessor, a doom metal band with a vocalist. Dropping the vocals was a great idea for these two.

Our drummer, Steve Shelton, has a big ol’ drum set & doesn’t waste any of it, he is by far the most talented member of this band.

The song Voden caught my ear, even reminding me a little bit of Kittie’s last couple albums. Each member clearly has his own style & they sound as if they’ve spent years in their garage making it work. This is heavy, though not as atmospheric as most instrumental music. Sure to satisfy any fan of Southern rock, doom, sludge or stoner metal.

This album will be released through Southern Lord in January of 2012.
