So, with all the hype surrounding the up coming Avengers movie in 2012, we look at the effects of having Ultimate Avengers Nick Fury or classic Marvel staple Nicholas J. Fury.
For many Marvel readers, this duality of characters doesn’t really matter, as many current Marvel readers are probably more familiar with the “Sam Jackson” Nick Fury to begin with. But, as an old school reader of “The House Of Ideas” nostalgia tends to kick in. And as a long time reader of The Avengers, I must say I do find the fact that “old school” Fury is absent from many of these Marvel films. The most prevalent being the recent release Captain America, where Marvel did a great job with The Howling Commandos in the WWII era, fighting along Captain America.

What a great addition it would have been to have WWII era Nick Fury alongside the Commandos. This could have absolutely led to a spin off of films featuring The Commandos during and after the war and leading to modern times.

I understand the new-ness of the Ultimate version of Fury, as more info we are receiving about The Avengers film and it being a mix…or more the “Ultimate” version of the film. I think there is almost a forgetfulness to this character as it seems, in the movie atleast, that his awareness is being fazed out. I would wonder, and would like to see a poll, showing how many current readers actually know of the WWII current marvel version of Mr. Fury as opposed to Jackson Fury.
