The Big Kahuna Comic Book News, Movies, News

There was a time not to long ago that Wizard World, the leader in comic book convention tours in the U.S. was expanding at lightning speed and adding shows in all types of new markets. Miami, Central Canada, Atlanta, Cleveland, Connecticut, New England, New Orleans, Cincinnati and several other cities were named on an on – growing schedule. Many thought that this rapid growing pace could not be sustained. Well, it seems that that time has come. In the past couple of weeks, Wizard has cancelled three of its scheduled shows (The Big Apple in NYC, Los Angeles and New England). Also gone from their schedule is the pending dates for never created shows for New Jersey, Connecticut, Cleveland and Atlanta) On their website, Wizard has 7 conventions on their schedule…Philadelphia, Chicago, Austin, New Orleans, Toronto, Mid-Ohio and New York. So what does this mean for the once mighty Wizard World Tour? Well, to some it seems that the writing is on the wall for the company, although they were scheduled to go public with rounds of financing and board listings and such. Others will say that it is those same actions that are making the company make hard decisions to streamline the business and lose any dead weight. Time will tell. Stay tuned to metalmachine.net for news on this and other comic book related stories.
