The Texan progressive rock group,, Fair to Midland, releases their fourth album. In ‘Arrows & Anchors’, the band pulls together some unique and amplifying tunes that truly brings a new element to the progressive rock genre. It is no argument that this new shred of light on the metal genre is a work of art.
Each and every song on the fifteen song set-list tells a story. The aspects reflected on earlier such as the instrumental folk metal bringing a hidden definition of the metal genre are truly brought full circle with the lyrical genius behind the notes. There is a constant blend of rhythm and vocals that achieves the utmost equilibrium. The essence of the music itself is not too heavy, and this allows for a plethora of talent to shine through in regard to the instrumentalists. Each song, although they may seem like a continuous medley, is unique in itself and utilizes different instruments.
The variety of the set is great too, some songs swing in and out of soft vocals into the typical metal vocals. Fair to Midland does a solid job in this release, and brings the metal genre some justice in opening up the path to new uniqueness sounds throughout. ‘Arrows & Anchors’ is a musical masterpiece.
