The Big Kahuna Comic Book News, News

Superstar artist Phil Jimenez is coming to “Steel Town”! Jimenez will join several other popular creators at this years Pittsburgh Comic Con.  The 2011 Pittsburgh Comic Con is slatted for April 15th – 17th.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and later Orange County, California, Phil moved to New York City to attend college at the School of Visual Arts where he now teaches a life-drawing course, Drawing for Cartoonists, as part of the undergraduate cartooning program. He began working at DC Comics when he was 21; his first published work was four pages in the DC miniseries War of the Gods (1991) and still lives in New York City. Phil is probably best known for his work as writer/artist on Wonder Woman (2000-2003),

main penciller of the miniseries crossover event Infinite Crisis (2005-2006) and his collaborations with writer Grant Morrison on New X-Men and The Invisibles. His realistic and richly detailed art style is heavily influenced by the work of artist George Pérez, in fact, a large part of Phil Jimenez’ work is also closely related to the works of Pérez: Jimenez has worked repeatedly in several Titans-related series and was the main artist of Infinite Crisis, a sequel to Perez & Wolfman’s critically acclaimed Crisis on Infinite Earths and Phil did a large run as writer & artist of Wonder Woman (as did Perez in the 80’s). Jimenez and Perez also have worked together in 2005-2006 in the miniseries Infinite Crisis (where Jimenez was the main penciller, and Perez drew some sequences and covers for the series) and DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy (written by Jimenez and inked by Perez). In 2007 Jimenez signed an exclusive contract with Marvel Comics where he worked on the companies flagship title, The Amazing Spider-Man as well as recently penciling The Astonishing X-Men. Currently Phil has returned to DC to work on the Legion Academy feature from Adventure Comics. We are thrilled to have Phil joining us for the 2011 Pittsburgh Comicon.
