The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News

On Sunday, February 13th, Chilean death metallers THORNAFIRE will share the stage with PESTILIENCE, VULCANO and nearly 40 others as part of the Macabre Fest II in Concón on the coast of Chile . In preparation for the festival, THORNAFIRE will join Chilean death/thrash cultists PENTAGRAM for a pair of shows in Santiago and the port city of Valparaiso .

Regarding the anticipated follow up to 2009’s Vorex Deconstrucción, THORNAFIRE guitarist Victor Mac-Namara states, “Currently we are writing music a little different than what we have done in the past. It’s a variation, but still true to our underground Death Metal underground roots. I’m drawing concepts for the album artwork. We hope to have this released  by 2012.”

In other THORNAFIRE news, the video for “Deconstruccion” can be viewed at this location. The clip was filmed, produced and edited by Daniel Duarte (a member of the fellow Chilean death metal act EXECRATOR) in a professional TV studio in Santiago.

“Deconstruccion” was previously described by THORNAFIRE bassist/vocalist Alexis Munoz as a “futuristic song inspired by the religious and social decline experienced in the current era Eon oh Hourus.”

“Deconstruccion” comes off THORNAFIRE’s second album, “Vorex Deconstrucción”, which came out in July 2009 via Ibex Moon Records.

THORNAFIRE’s Vorex Deconstrucción was released in July of 2009 on Ibex Moon Records. The band’s previous release, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation, is also available through Ibex Moon.

 About Vorex Deconstrucción

The sophomore release for Ibex Moon Records is another step forward in a death metal style that is old school based with a muscular, modern production. Says guitarist Victor Mac-Namara, “The songs that we composed are not in the current way of endless blast beat songs. We do it the old way – memorable music with variety, twisted riffs, and a lot of madness!”

On Vorex Deconstrucción THORNAFIRE has captured the true spirit of a Southern American death metal style that worships at the altar of the ancient ones and takes it cues from the likes Morbid Angel, Krisiun, (early) Sepultura, and Pentagram (Chile), while putting its own unique spin on the genre. The combination of Juan Pablo Donoso’s batter and clatter drumming, Mac-Namara’s giant array of monster riffs and bassist Alexis Munoz’s David-Vincent-meets-Tom-G-Warrior vocals is nothing short of explosive. Combined with occasional synth accents, lyrics sung entirely in Spanish, and guest vocal spots from professional actress Maria Araya, the album establishes THORNAFIRE as one of South America’s premier death metal acts.
