The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News

For the first time in his 40-plus year career, rock legend OZZY OSBOURNE has stormed onto on a non-music chart with his I AM OZZY (Grand Central Publishing) autobiography which has landed at #2 and #3 on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal’s non-fiction charts, respectively. Last week, OZZY wrapped the first run of his promotional tour with appearances on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and book signings in Los Angeles–including the largest crowd on this tour and a record number for the store when 3,500 fans came out in Huntington Beach, CA. I AM OZZY is the rock icon’s unbelievable story told, for the first time, in Ozzy’s hilarious, witty, and inimitable voice. Additional book signings are set in the following cities:

Here’s what some critics had to say about I AM OZZY:

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (1/25/10): “As we glean from I Am Ozzy, things tend to happen to him beyond his control–not that control is in any way part of his nomenclature. It makes the Prince of Darkness’ autobiography funny, frustrating, fascinating and impossible to put down.”

Philadelphia Weekly (1/27/10): “I Am Ozzy–which is one of the best memoirs this memoir junkie has ever read, no joke. Thick as a bible, I Am Ozzy is a lightning-read account of one man’s journey into and out of the sludgy bowels of the rock and roll beast…But, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, like Tom Robbins books, the joy here, even for Sabbath fans, is less about the plot and all about the delivery. What I mean is, the book is hilarious.”

Boston Phoenix (1/27/10): “His bleak, Dickensian early years were marked by soul-crushingly depressing jobs, trouble in school, time in prison, and near-abject poverty…It’s all chronicled in I Am Ozzy, his new, startlingly absorbing (and hilarious) memoir.”

Associated Press (1/29/10): “I Am Ozzy is a ‘true Hollywood story’ in book format–a ride through rock ‘n’ roll history with a driver saturated in controlled substances. It’s Ozzy Osborne’s stumbling, rambling, decadent-beyond-recognition memoir, as over-the-top as the author himself. The book would be heartbreaking if it weren’t so hilarious…This book is gritty and raunchy. But while Osbourne’s memoir is sometimes painful to read, it’s also sidesplittingly funny.”
