Iron Man 2 maybe the most anticipated movie of 2010, but it’s got some heavy competition from Sylvester Stallone and a dream cast coming in the form of The Expendibles. Set to be released in August 2010, here are five reasons why The Expendables is going to kick major ass next summer.

5. The Cast

Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Brittany Murphy, Lauren Jones, and Charisma Carpenter, all in the same movie. This is the cast action junkies have dreamed about for decades. This alone is worth it. Add to that a sadistic South American dictator for a foe along with Eric Roberts as a sadistic CIA agent who enjoys waterboarding defenseless women, and you have all the makings of a great action movie. “I didn’t know what to expect,” says cast mate Lauren Jones of the dream cast, “they were smart. They were focused, hands on, and on point. They loved it and you could see it.” Lauren went on to say that her cast mates inspired her and though they were stars they were, “not just pretty people. Stars are people who work hard, have a brain, and dedication.” You can’t argue with that.

4. Rocky vs. Drago: The Rematch

Okay, not exactly but from the looks of early trailers, Dolph Lundgren will play Gunnar Jenson, a sniper and former Expendable, hired to eliminate Sly and his crew. Will we see Sly and Lundgren slug it out with each other one more time? I sure hope so…at least let Lundgren say, “I must break you” once more.

3. The Girls

Brittany Murphy, Charisma Carpenter, Gisele Itie, and Lauren Jones. Perfect compliments to our dream cast. Ms. Jones, former WWE Diva, Barkers Beauty and Co-Founder of the Lauren Jones Footwear collection, was kind enough to take some time out to talk to us about her role. “I play Cheyenne” Lauren said, “who is Mickey Rourke’s love interest. Love interest or not, Lauren certainly took her fair share of bumps during shooting, especially during one scene with Mickey and a Ducati motorcycle. “We practiced the scene ten times because the Ducati is a heavy motorcycle and it’s hard. He’s starting off at a warehouse, not a long ride as they make it look, and to start the motorcycle, to stop it, and then to put the kickstand down at the right moment is hard. During one scene he put the kickstand down and it landed on my foot. I was wearing gigantically high heels and I looked down and my foot was bleeding. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to ruin the scene. I laugh about it now.”

2. The Director

Say what you want about Sylvester Stallone, when it comes to directing an action he movie, he’s all business. “He was so hands on,” Lauren said of her director, “He would not sleep; he would work and work and work. He approved my wardrobe, everything from my hair to my shoes. He even grabbed me by the hand and said, ‘Let’s talk your framing. I want you over here, over there, I want you visible, I want to hear your voice.’” Lauren went on to say Sly was inspiring and that there was, “no better example of someone in Hollywood who is hardworking and dedicated…he made me want to be a better actress.”
