» Blog Archive Taake Forced To Cancel Select US Shows; Visa Issues -
Evan Conway Hard Music, News, Tours

taakeAnother day, another story about Visa issues and European bands. In the past few years, Visa Issues have become a widespread problem with bands, with the likes of Cradle of Filth and Obscura being victims of this system. Taake are currently in danger of facing the same problem, just as they’re getting set to embark on another US Tour.

The band made the following post to their Facebook page:

IMPORTANT U.S.A. ANNOUNCEMENT!

It is with heavy heart that we have to inform you that some of Taake’s band members have not yet received their working visas.
We have been fortunate with this system before, having travelled to the States 3 times in the past 3 years.
For this tour we started the visa process as early as we could, with a longer time buffer than before. Still, with the situation of all band members remaining unchanged from prior successful visa applications, time is now running out and we might have to cancel the first shows. Hopefully as few as possible.
We are continuously doing all that we can to solve this quickly, but speeding up the process is totally out of our hands.
We will keep you updated, please check this page daily.
We would appreciate your understanding and patience..

Canceled shows;
20 May 2017: El Corazon, Seattle (USA)
21 May 2017: Star Theatre, Portland (USA)

Taake remain one of the best bands I’ve witnessed live, and I regard them as one of the best black metal bands around today. Having witnessed them at Saint Vitus last year with Vattnet and Young and in the Way, the band ultimately lives up to their legacy, in which it’s a huge disappointment to hear they’re having difficulty making their way into the States. Still, with the instances of Marduk and Shining as of late, it’s great to hear that the band isn’t being accused of anything for a change.
