Free Comic Book Day 2021 will be celebrated at your local comic shop on August 14th, and this year Marvel Comics will release two Free Comic Book Day titles, each containing two separate stories. These exciting tales will provide perfect entry points for new readers to the thrilling ongoing sagas of the Avengers, Spider-Man, Venom, and the Hulk and give comic fans their first glimpse at the exciting new eras for their favorite characters. These issues will shape the Marvel Universe as we know it with direct connections to the year’s biggest upcoming storylines.
July will see the beginning of a new arc in Donny Cates’ acclaimed run on THOR titled “Revelations.” Teaming up with Cates for this new storyline will be guest artist Michele Bandini (King in Black: Spider-Man), filling in for regular series artist Nic Klein who will return for the next arc. Seen on the jawdropping new cover by legendary Thor artist Olivier Coipel and colorist Matt Wilson, “Revelations” will pack plenty of surprises, including an explosive fight between Thor and Captain America.
Emmy award-nominated actress Emilia Clarke will be releasing a comic series coming from Image coming called M.O.M: Mother of Madness. The story follows Maya, who is a scientist and single mother during the day but a superhero at night. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Emilia said “We’re always calling mothers superheroes, and I’m like, what if they were? What if they legitimately were superheroes?” She also said “Maya has had a very hard life, and she finds herself in a place where everything that makes her unique, she hates and is ashamed about. Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has dropped. This film will star Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh. The storyline follows Shang-Chi who is made to look to his past while being brought into the Ten Rings. The film is scheduled to be released on September 3rd, 2021.
