Candlelight Records today confirms June 16th as the North American release date for A Dracula, the second full-length album from Las Vegas-based doom metal band, DEMON LUNG. Produced by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, High On Fire, Eyehategod etc.), the album will be available for preorder via Amazon, iTunes and physical retailers beginning May 26th, and is available for preorder now via Candlelight’s official web store and BandCamp. In mid-December, DEMON LUNG began their second pilgrimage to Oregon to work with Anderson. At the journey’s conclusion, eight dark hymns became A Dracula‘s storyline. With GOATSNAKE‘s newest LP in a decade-and-a-half, Black Age Blues, nearing its unveiling in early June, this weekend the band has several special Southern California pre-release actions planned. First up, this Saturday, May 2nd the band will venture out to secluded Pioneertown for a one-off show at Pappy and Harriet’s. The next day, Sunday, May 3rd, sees the band hosting a public record listening party in Los Angeles where members of GOATSNAKE will be in attendance and fans can hear the entire album a full month before its release.

Virginia-based psychedelic sludge faction, AKRIS, led by the low-end conjurings of bassist/vocalist Helena Goldberg, will return to the stage this weekend with two new recruits — drummer Tim Otis (Admiral Browning) and guitarist/vocalist Paul Cogle (Nagato, Slagstorm, Black Blizzard) — marking the first time ever AKRIS performs as a trio.
