Bat 1BAT
Primitive Age
Tankcrimes
22 November 2013

Tankcrimes Records is pleased to welcome BAT to their roster of audio decadence. An unholy union of Municipal Waste guitarist Ryan Waste on bass/vocals, former DRI drummer Felix Griffin and Volture guitarist Nick Poulos, the Virginia/Texas punk metal marauders invoke the spirits of Venom, Hellhammer, Motörhead and Discharge with their Primitive Age demo EP. Featuring five tracks of filthy, fuck-all, debauchery, Primitive Age is a primal outpouring of molten metal riffs, confrontational Kill ‘Em All angst and enough vocal venom to level a nation.

Primitive Age Track Listing:
1. BAT
2. Total Wreckage
3. Code Rude
4. Rule of the Beast
5. Primitive Age

BAT was forged in fire when Ryan Waste met Griffin in Austin at a Municipal Waste gig in 2007. Sharing the same musical tastes and metal/punk backgrounds, the two immediately hit it off. Griffin hadn’t performed with DRI since the late eighties and itched to play again. “We eventually spoke of doing a project together,” relays Ryan. “Originally I was going to play all the guitars, bass and vocals and it would be a studio thing. We sat on this idea for years and humored it every time I’d pass through Texas. It seemed too exciting to not make this a real live band so I asked Nick from our current heavy metal band Volture if he wanted on board as a permanent guitarist and it was a done deal. I would have my hands full singing and playing bass as it was.“ BAT, which was the original working title before Volture, seemed to suite the style they were going for so it stuck. “Nick and I cooked up a few raw demo songs, I laid down some basic garage band drums and we sent the tracks to Felix. With Felix living in Austin and Nick and I in Richmond, Virginia, it had to be arranged like that to start. Over this last summer Felix flew in town for a week and we banged out those songs with live drums and wrote a couple more on the fly. With only a few practices under our belts we recorded all the music in one day on reel-to-reel analog tape. It was a challenge to not over analyze and nail down all live takes. It was indeed primitive. We wanted a raw sound to begin with and this turned out to be the ultimate way to achieve it.

The Primitive Age EP is available as a “Pay-What-You-Want-Including-Free” download TODAY at the official BAT BandCamp page HERE. Tankcrimes is also offering a “Primitive Pack” preorder bundle which includes a double sided T-shirt, embroidered patch, die-cut sticker and cassette tape all for a thrifty $20 plus shipping. Tankcrimes
7 January 2014

This January, unearthly splatterthrash and weedian death metal will unite in an unholy matrimony of sonic decay as GHOUL and CANNABIS CORPSE unleash a split 12” fittingly dubbed Splatterhash.

Featuring four tracks of rabid, brutalic insanity, the Splatterhash 12” will be unleashed via Tankcrimes January 7, 2014 on CD and digital download . For their portion of the split, GHOUL returned to Earhammer Studios in Oakland, California where they recorded both Transmission Zero and Splatterthrash.

The whole rollicking shebang was mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound and Santa Cruz, California and features cover art by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust). The release marks the first CANNABIS CORPSE material to feature Land Phil on vocals and Brent Purgason (Pustulus Maximus of Gwar) on lead guitar.

CANNABIS CORPSE, who recently joined the Season Of Mist roster, is a marijuana-themed death metal assault from Richmond, Virginia. Featuring members of Municipal Waste and Gwar, the red-eyed riffmanglers in CANNABIS CORPSE pride themselves in their exceptional knowledge of good green, face raping riffs and death metal parodies. Future live ceremonials from both bands to be announced in the months to come.

Ashes To Ashes
Tankcrimes
15 April 2014

The mischief makers at Tankcrimes are extremely honored to announce the reissue of Ashes to Ashes, the 1987 debut LP from legendary Los Angeles hardcore punk assassins, FINAL CONFLICT.

Influenced by the British punk severity of bands like Discharge and one of the first groups to fuse hardcore’s simplistic and manic audio fury and heavy metal’s musicianship with any degree of success, the spiky-haired punks in FINAL CONFLICT manifested a sound that would go on to be emulated by hundreds of bands to come, none ever reaching the level of raw power this LP delivered. Originally issued on Pushead’s Pusmort Records in 1987 then later released via Relapse Records in 1994, this monumental release now find’s a new home at Tankcrimes Records.

Available on vinyl and 2CD, the original Ashes To Ashes tapes were found, baked, restored and transferred by Ulysses Noriega at The Laundry Room Recording Studio in Los Angeles, California and remastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Studios in Austin, Texas. The 2CD version includes the 1985 Demo on the bonus disk while the vinyl edition includes 12” x 12″ 24-page book with lyrics, photos, flyers, commentary and more plus a foldout poster. The first pressing comes on in three color schemes: splatter (mailorder exclusive), red and black wax.

Ashes To Ashes Track Listing:
1. Apocalypse Now!
2. One Answer
3. Private War
4. Crucifixion

Fucked Up 1FUCKED UP
Year Of The Dragon
TANKCRIMES
15 April 2014

Long running Canadian hardcore punk perpetrators FUCKED UP, will discharge the sixth installment of the “Zodiac Series” with Year Of The Dragon this Spring.

Melding all the prime tenets of rock, punk, metal and psychedia into a comprehensive and imposing opus of unyielding enormity, FUCKED UP are sonically and conceptually devouring in ways few bands can emulate. Following the releases of 2006’s Year Of The Dog, 2008’s Year Of The Pig, 2009’s Year Of The Rat, 2010’s Year Of The Ox and 2012’s Year Of The Tiger, Year Of The Dragon boasts three tracks, cover art by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Skeletonwitch) and will come available on 12”, CD and digitally. Side A features the title track, a seventeen-and-a-half-minute epic anthem centered on dreams, expectations, compromise and hypocrisy. Side B is rounded out by two classic Canadian punk covers from Cardboard Brains and The Ugly.

Relays the band, “The two B sides are faithful versions of two ‘forgotten’ historic Toronto punk tunes. So much of Toronto’s early punk scene had a strong following and a great reputation, but some things never really made it out in to the world at the time. CBC [Canadian Broadcasting Corporation] were commemorating the anniversary of The Last Pogo — a huge, well-known, punk show in the late ‘70s that was held at the Horseshoe Tavern; populated by almost every band of the day, and was capped off by a near riot [it was later immortalized on vinyl] — and we helped ring in the occasion by giving two of the bands on the record a little reanimation care of FUCKED UP. The Ugly are still active to this day, and the Cardboard Brains are a collector favorite.

Year Of The Dragon Track Listing:
1. Year Of The Dragon
2. I Wanna Be A Yank (Cardboard Brains)
3. Disorder (The Ugly)

FUCKED UP’s last album, David Comes To Life (Matador Records) debuted at #83 on the Billboard 200. Called “a convincing demonstration of what can happen when a band works without limitations,” by Pitchfork, the offering reaped the critical adoration of fans and media globally and was Spin Magazine’s #1 Record Of The Year (2011).

Year Of The Dragon will be released via Tankcrimes on April 15th, 2014. The first wax pressing includes a six-minute edit of “Year Of The Dragon” included on a separate seven-inch flexi disc.

Ghoul 3GHOUL
Hang Ten
Tankcrimes
19 April 2014

In recognition of that holiest of holy days, Record Store Day, the masked mutants in GHOUL are releasing Hang Ten, a limited edition six-song (mostly) instrumental 10” EP. Featuring guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan) as Henchman #1 and the inimitable R.A. MacLean (ex-Deadbolt) as Kreeg, alongside Digestor, Cremator, Fermentor, Dissector and The Moron Cavern-Shackled Choir, Hang Ten was recorded by Salvador Raya at Earhammer Studios in Oakland (birthing home of Splatterhash, Splatterthrash and Transmission Zero), mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and sports cover art by Sean Aaberg of Pork Magazine.

Surely an anomaly in GHOUL’s catalog, the EP features songs written exclusively in their unique brand of surf metal the quartet has previously only dabbled in. Hang Ten picks up right where Transmission Zero left off, relaying the tale of a Creepsylvania in tatters, and the terrible power struggle that ensues between two vicious motorcycle gangs. Noted Cambridge University musical anthropologist Dr. Mantle Bannister PhD had this to say about this odd assortment of tenebrous tunes: “Why, it’s quite remarkable. I’ve never heard the like. Is it surf? Not quite. Is it metal? Maybe. Is it jazz? No, that’s a stupid question, unfit for a real life noted musical anthropologist such as myself. It’s from Creepsylvania, you say? Ghastly country. Absolutely crawling with gypsies. Say, old chap, who let you in to my office?

Hang Ten 10? Track Listing:
1. The Midnight Ride of the Cannibals MC
2. Kreeg
3. Sidehackers
4. Hang Ten
5. Blood on the Street
6. It Was a Very Good Year

Hang Ten will be released on April 19, 2014 (OUT NOW, DEADBEATS!) via Tankcrimes Records.

In related news, GHOUL will headline the first night of this year’s edition of Brainsqueeze Fest. Set to take place April 18th and 19th at the Oakland Metro and April 20th at Eli’s Mile High Club, which will include BBQ and an Andrei Bouzikov art show, the mammoth event features more than a dozen acts including Municipal Waste, Final Conflict, Negative Approach. Fucked Up and Cannabis Corpse as well as a gaggle of new Tankcrimes releases to be revealed in the coming weeks! Get your riot gear ready. For more info, point your browser HERE.
