VattnetNew Hampshire’s Vattnet, formerly known as Vattnet Viskar, have been getting attention in the US black metal scene in the past few years, with their releases Sky Swallower and Settler gathering positive reviews and attention. Last year, after completing a tour with the prolific black metal act, Taake, the band underwent some changes and went mostly silent.

Things are stirring in the Vattnet camp, as the band has made changes to their Facebook page. For almost a year now, the page has been renamed to just simply Vattnet, which was an early indication that changes were coming.

As indicated in an interview done with NineCircles.co, guitarist Chris Alfieri stated that vocalist and guitarist Nicholas Thonbury had left the band. In the interview, he states that Vattnet has underwent a sonic change and reveals that the forthcoming self-titled album won’t have and screams or growls on it, and there’s possibly one blast beat. While that usually sets up some red flags for a band, his confidence is reassuring and does a fine job at hyping up the forthcoming release.

Alfieri states that we should be hearing a song by the summer, and with the season quickly approaching and the band shuffling their Facebook appearance around, it’s possible we’ll be hearing it sooner rather than later. The interview was posted exactly a month ago, so time has passed. It was also confirmed that the band has the masters in their possession, so a new song may be upon us.

Keep an ear out for everything Vattnet has coming our way.
