Eulogy Recordings is very proud to announce the signing of New York’s THE SMASHUP. Their Eulogy debut album “The Sea And The Serpents Beneath” is all set for a March 16th release. The album was produced by Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Pelican, Unsane). A new song “Weigh The Anchored Cross” has been posted on the bands Myspace page here. They recently shot a music video for the track “Set Loose Black Sail” by David Brodsky (Suicide Silence, Unearth, Gwar). Tour plans are currently in the works to support “The Sea And The Serpents Beneath”. Pre-order deals are currently available here.

Vocalist Sean Cuthbert commented “We are very pleased to announce that we have signed on with well-renowned independent music label Eulogy Recordings. As one of the premier independent record labels in the industry, Eulogy has been home to a stellar roster of bands that includes Unearth, Evergreen Terrace, New Found Glory, It Dies Today, Set Your Goals, and Dashboard Confessional. We are proud to join the Eulogy family and are very excited to be releasing our upcoming Album “The Sea and the Serpents Beneath” under their umbrella in March of 2010. We look forward to working with John and the rest of the Eulogy camp as we begin the new year with our new record, along with new merch and tour dates to be posted very soon. Thanks so much to everyone for their continued support! We can’t wait to release this record and see you out on the road!!”

Eulogy owner John Wylie added “The SmashUp is on an entirely different level than most bands around today. Listening to them is an experience”.

Bio:
Formed in the boroughs of NYC in 2003, The SmashUp are a tenacious quintet with strong devotion to DIY ethics, earning there moniker by the groups tenacity to “smash” through genre definition and also by the number of concussions the band have endured over the years (whether from stage chaos, or simply crashing a van into a moose after an As I Lay Dying show, at 75mph). We pride ourselves on an energetic stage performance – one that has people talking after a show regardless of how they feel about the music. While the music is always at the forefront of our performance, we appreciate the value of connecting with an audience both visually and emotionally as well. In addition, our sound cannot be pinned down in a one-song sampling. While many artists may need only one song to represent what they bring to the table, we feel there is a willingness within our music to step in and out of boundaries, to display an array of different moods, sounds, and emotions that bands in our circuit may otherwise shy away from – this is well-represented in our upcoming release.” – Sean Cuthbert (vox).

The SmashUp have shared the stage with many bands that have been an influence to the band on stage and off, including Megadeth, Deftones, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Thrice, Thursday, Deftones, Pelican to name a few. With the latest installment “The Sea and The Serpents Beneath”, produced by Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Pelican, Unsane), the band is super focused with a renewed maturity and purpose to manifest destiny. This album represents the adversity we have faced over the years and our unrelenting willingness and hunger to sail on and be heard. The album theme is woven into a short story that revolves around the quest for life’s answers, on a sea pilgrimage, after the fall of modern civilization. We wanted to make this record a mini epic that can also be left to open interpretation from the listener.
