Wizard Entertainment has shut down Wizard Magazine effective immediately. News of this has been hitting the internet all day. Most writers and editorial staff have been let go. Sister publication Toy Fair will has also been shut down.

  Warner Premiere today announced development of a live-action digital series based on the best-selling Mortal Kombat videogame franchise.  Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, known for his popular unofficial fan short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth which garnered over 10 million views online, and in conjunction with the upcoming Mortal Kombat videogame, this action-packed, digital series will take gamers deep into the history of warriors they know and love such as Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Liu Kang.  Shooting for the digital series will take place in Vancouver starting in early February.     Mortal Kombat is one of the most celebrated videogame franchises of all time. In 2011, DC Comics will employ a rating system consistent with that of the rest of the industry, as well as with our digital releases, which already utilize a rating system. As for our Vertigo comic books, they will not utilize the rating system, because they will continue to be labeled as “For Mature Readers”.
