cdv825 Comic Book News, News Comments Off on Jeff Lemire on Superboy #1 and Beyond

cdv825 Comic Book News, News Comments Off on Sterling Gates on Superman #700

I just remember how much it hurt. Superman was dead. I remember my dad explaining to me that these things happen, and nothing we say or do can stop them. I remember telling a kid in my Scout troop the news and watching tears well in his eyes. I remember wearing a black armband with a red s-shield on it to school. I remember being sad. cdv825 Comic Book News, News Comments Off on J. Michael Straczynski on Superman#700 and beyond

For me, Superman was, is and shall forever be America’s hero. Yes, his mandate is to protect the people of the world, he doesn’t take sides, he’s not overtly political…but like jazz and comic books themselves, he is inexorably tied to our culture and way of life. He stands for all the things we like to believe we stand for, especially when standing is the most difficult, when it would be simpler and easier to turn away.
