After all the hubbub of a long day, I love to throw on instrumental albums. No one is going to ask me how the hell I can listen to that noise, or how I can understand that guy yelling at me, or why is he saying FUCK so much?! Instrumental albums and bands allow for an open conversation about metal, and can really help people understand it’s all about a lot more than just defenestrating people or Satan being awesome. Today’s selection is the new S/T album from NY in 64 (or NY64, if you see that), so read further if you’re interested.  

Like Death Metal? Like Death Metal you can understand, but still be brutal AF? Look no further than th enew album from Psychomancer, Inject the Worms! This slab of throwback death metal makes the blood-caked hairs on my arms shiver, so check the review after the break!  

Hot Lunch, the San Francisco-based band whose music was described by Thrasher as “a blast of ‘60s acid rock seemingly unearthed after decades of rock ’n’ roll mediocrity,” release the Slappy Sunday EP today via Scion Audio Visual  

From the intertwined throng of musicians who hail from New York acts Grey Skies Fallen, Buckshot Facelift, and others, a brand new musical entity is born with BRAVE THE WATERS, as the duo completes their debut EP for independent release this Spring.  

Danish speed metallers ENCYRCLE will release their self-titled debut album June 2 on Unspeakable Axe Records.  

UK straightedge hardcore quintet, VIOLENT REACTION, proudly releases their sophomore LP, Marching On, through Revelation Records tomorrow, as their third US tour begins, alongside countrymates Arms Race. With several new updates to the tour routing just in, VIOLENT REACTION has also been officially added to the Damaged City Fest on April 11th in Washington, DC, closing down the eleven-city tour alongside The Mob, United Mutilation, Night Fever, No Tolerance, Career Suicide, Government Warning, Excruciating Terror, The Flex, Coke Bust, and dozens more.  

Master sound manipulator/one-man industrial doom conjuror, Tristan Shone, better known as AUTHOR & PUNISHER, will wage his audio war upon Europe for an eight-date live takeover. Set to commence tomorrow in Hamburg, Germany, Shone will rumble the infrastructures of eight venues alongside Atari Teenage Riot on select dates.  

Southern Lord has activated several tracks from the label’s upcoming vinyl discography collection from Philly hardcore icons, YDI, as the deluxe reissue nears release in early April. Spanning different eras of the infamous crew’s random lineage and discography, the tracks “Black Dust“, the demo version of “8th Man“, and the band’s namesake track, “Why Die?“, are now playing via Bandcamp as preorders for the 2xLP document which contains every known recording of the band, as well as a 10″x10” full color photo book with tons of never before seen images from the band’s existing recorded era, are now made active.  

Orchestrated Misery Recordings has set April 7 as the day on which Inject the Worms from Indiana Death Metal merchants PSYCHOMANCER will be released.  

German Riffonauts BLACK SPACE RIDERS will be entering the studio in the coming days to record their fourth album. The new album comes on the heels of highly acclaimed predecessor D:REI (2014). The album is tentatively scheduled for a Summer 2015 release.  

JADED STAR, the new act founded by former members of Visions Of Atlantis, Iced Earth, and more, just released a brand new lyric video for “Stars,” the fourth track from their upcoming Sensory Records debut album, Memories From The Future, which is nearing release mid-April.  

CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC will release the debut album Kingdom of the Hammer King from new epic power metal sensation HAMMER KING on May 5 in North America!
