SCIENCE DOG gets his first collection from Image Comics Half man, half dog and all hero, Science Dog gets his first collection in SCIENCE DOG SPECIAL #1, coming this September from Image Comics. He’s INVINCIBLE’S favorite comic book character. Soon, he’ll be yours as well!  

Image Comics reprints the first issue of classic series in IMAGE FIRSTS: WAVE TWO This Fall, Image Comics is re-presenting 10 first issues as an introduction to some of its most acclaimed titles. Each debut acts as a perfect primer to its corresponding ongoing series and collected editions. Starting September 1, 2010, and continuing through November, each reprinted first issue will be available for only $1.

Sludge Metal legends CROWBAR have signed a worldwide deal with E1 Music. The band will be releasing a new full-length album later this fall. “CROWBAR is very excited to have landed this deal with E1 Music! We have always been very proud of what we do and the new record will not disappoint and of our die hard fans.” says front man and guitar player Kirk Windstein.  

All things BRIGHTEST DAY continue to chug along at a frenetic pace, and we’ve got a first look at what’s going down in the September-shipping batch of titles.  

On the cover to BRIGHTEST DAY #4? Yup. How is that possible, you ask? What’s going on with the Hawks?  

HACK/SLASH: MY FIRST MANIAC #1 sells out at the distribution level Tim Seeley’s first release since bringing cult classic Hack/Slash to Image Comics — HACK/SLASH: MY FIRST MANIAC #1 (of 4) — is officially sold out at the distribution level. Image Comics is taking it to press for a second printing.  

NOLA sludge veterans EYEHATEGOD played an incredible show at the intimate Europa on June 12th.  

In case you missed it – and really, how could you, with a week-long spotlight right here? – BATMAN #700 hit this week. And the issue featured an epic, time-twisting tale from writer Grant Morrison and artists Tony Daniel, Frank Quitely, Andy Kubert, Scott Kolins and David Finch.  

Talk about a stellar cast of guest-bloggers this week, huh? Grant Morrison, Andy Kubert, David Finch, Dustin Nguyen, Shane Davis…Can we keep going? Well, yes. We have one more – last, and certainly not least, we checked in with OUTSIDERS and BATMAN AND ROBIN artist Philip Tan to get a look at his contribution to the landmark 700th BATMAN issue. Take it away, Philip.  

One of the key elements in BRIGHTEST DAY beyond returning characters like Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, is the introduction of entire new heroes, villains and worlds as well. Just as we’ve built a bigger universe of characters around Green Lantern with Atrocitus, Larfleeze and Indigo, we’re all busy at work turning our attention on adding heroes, villains and worlds within the rest of the DC Universe.
