Viking Thrash band THE HORDE (IL) has inked a deal with STORMSPELL RECORDS. Their sophmore album, entitled Thy Blackened Reign is set for a September release. Commented the band: “We are all very happy to be a part of the Stormspell roster,” said guitarist Tim Matthews. “Thy Blackened Reign is our second album, and it’s by far our heaviest and most diverse to date. Recording in analog helped get that old school feeling without losing any of the sonic power thatis held in high regard in today’s extreme metal scene.”
One of the leading bands of the ‘New Wave of British Heavy Metal’ movement, Saxon, is about to hit the U.S. shores hard once more. On September 27th, Saxon will release their 19th studio album overall, ‘Call to Arms’ (via UDR Music/EMI), and starting the following day, will launch a Stateside tour. IMPENDING DOOM will enter the studio this week to work on their upcoming yet to be titled new record. The band will begin work with producer Andreas Magnusson with the all mighty Machine for mixing. “After months of preparation the time has finally come to start production on our next full length! Without going into the cliche of trying to explain how this is our ‘heaviest’ or ‘most mature’ material, I will spare the insincere rant and just say that this is by for OUR favorite material and we can’t wait to share it with you guys,” says guitarist Cory Johnson.
