The Shazam film has always been the wildcard in the DCEU line-up. It’s not that the property has been odd or out of place for DC, but the fact that we’ve only heard that Dwayne Johnson is slated to play Black Adam, with a possible Black Adam spin-off in development. The curtain seems to lifted ever so slightly, as Warner Bros. has finally shed some details on the upcoming superhero film.

The Godzilla franchise has been doing quite for itself since its resurrection in 2014. With the Legendary Pictures film doing quite well for itself critically and financially and Toho’s Shin Godzilla generating tremendous success in Japan, it would seem the deal between the two to share the iconic kaiju was nothing but good tidings for the companies.   

Organizers behind Chicago’s Riot Fest (September 15-17 at Douglas Park) unveiled the daily lineups for this year’s festival. Highlighting Friday night’s lineup is Nine Inch Nails, New Order, A Day to Remember, Vic Mensa and Ministry. Danzig joins in Saturday’s festivities alongside Queens of the Stone Age, Wu-Tang Clan, a DJ set from The Beastie Boys’ Mike D and At the Drive In.  

In conjunction with their massive upcoming tour, which includes the band’s maiden voyage to the US, Finnish cosmic black metal alchemists ORANSSI PAZUZU will release a special 10″ recording containing two new tracks, which are now streaming.  

IDW and WonderCon head to Anaheim, CA this weekend for the fan-favorite 3-day convention! Held at the Anaheim Convention Center from March 31st to April 2nd IDW will be set up all weekend long at booth #1109. In addition to big signings and essential panels throughout the weekend, IDW will also be hosting Traveling Stories at their booth, a San Diego-based non-profit committed to spreading literacy through community engagement.  

This year marks the first Blackest Of The Black Destination Festival. The brainchild of Glenn Danzig, the event not only serves as a music festival, but as a cultural experience: an escape. Coming to Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA in Orange County on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th.

Texan instrumental rock collective THIS WILL DESTROY YOU has just announced an upcoming US tour supporting Deafheaven, set to take place in February and March.  

A Perfect Circle have announced a May 7 performance at the Hollywood Bowl, with tickets available on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. pacific.

The Big Apple Circus, a New York and national cultural treasure for nearly four decades, announced today that it has filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.  

The third and final wave of acts for the LA-based December edition of THE POWER OF THE RIFF has been announced, this week confirming the addition of INCANTATION, OBLITERATIONS, KOWLOON WALLED CITY, NECROT, LIES and CRYPT ROT to the event on December 17th and 18th, 2016. The two-day fest will carry on the tradition of bringing a diverse line up of heavy music together under one roof. Presented in conjunction with Southern Lord, each night of THE POWER OF THE RIFF will feature artists bridging the realms of underground extreme music, including a mix of both internationally-recognized and brand new acts.  

Portuguese hardcore outfit REALITY SLAP is preparing to release their crushing new Limitless EP through WAR Records in January. This week, the news of a massive February European hardcore tour including Deez Nuts, Comeback Kid, First Blood, Hellions, Risk It, Get The Shot, and, of course, REALITY SLAP, has been announced.
