This week is all about celebrating the Man of Steel and the many creators and eras he’s been involved with. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t include writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely’s epic, emotional and classic run on ALL STAR SUPERMAN.

If you thought we had a blog packed with creators, news and excitement when BATMAN #700 came out, you’re in for a treat. As some of you know, this week marks the 700th issue of SUPERMAN. The anniversary issue not only features a first look at J. Michael Straczynski and Eddy Barrows’ “Grounded” storyline, but is full of clues and hints about the other titles in the SUPERMAN family, including ACTION COMICS, SUPERGIRL and the new SUPERBOY series from Jeff Lemire.

It’s been a hectic and exciting week here at The Source and beyond, so we thought it’d be a good idea to take a minute to round up some of the more notable posts from the last few days:

This month, writer Judd Winick and artist Pablo Raimondi joined forces to reveal the origins of the Red Hood in RED HOOD: THE LOST DAYS, a six-issue mini-series that spotlights an angry young man’s transformation into one of Batman’s deadliest foes.

Image Comics to release second volume of critically acclaimed LIQUID CITY anthology in September In September, you’ll be able to explore the mutable landscapes of LIQUID CITY, VOL. 2, an anthology collecting work from celebrated Southeast Asian creators. Editor Sonny Liew promises unforgettable tales of cities and the people who live in them.

NEXT GEN WARZ battles for your disposable income in September Forget waiting in line for the next game system — get in line for Ryan Kinnaird’s NEXT GEN WARZ, a hilariously satirical take on anthropomorphic video game systems! The first issue of the miniseries from Image Comics will hit stands September 22.

Image Comics revives fantasy-fueled action comedy with SKULLKICKERS In September, Image Comics brings you fantasy as you like it — hilarious and action packed — with SKULLKICKERS, an all-new ongoing series. Written by Jim Zubkavich with art by Edwin Huang, Chris Stevens and Misty Coats, SKULLKICKERS promises to turn any fantasy motif on its head.

Power Girl dives headfirst into the next chapter of her life on Earth with new series writer Judd Winick (JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST) and artist Sami Basri (THE SHIELD)!

Some cartoons are so much fun, that even as adults, we want to immerse ourselves even more in their world. BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD is a great example. A high-energy mash-up of the best of old school Batman with a decidedly modern twist, BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD makes for a fun romp that appeals to fans young and old. But how to extend the experience beyond watching the show?

Legendary LEGION writer Paul Levitz continues his latest stint with the team from the 31st century, pairing with artist Yildiray Cinar to tell the tale of a Legionnaire torn between the Legion itself and the Green Lantern Corps.

The return of one hero heralds the release of the powerful Starheart, which empowers Green Lantern Alan Scott. Now, with this chaotic energy unleashed on Earth, magic has gone wild and new metahumans are emerging. Definitely more than one super-team can handle, even the famed Justice Society of America.

This blog is always fun, but sometimes, you get a surprise in your inbox that reminds you why doing this each day is cool. Today was one such day, as I got a nice note from superstar artist Andy Kubert, who’s being doing a bang-up job on the first two issues of DC UNIVERSE: LEGACIES, paired with his legendary father on inks.
