One of the most highly anticipated conflicts in Marvel Comics history arrived earlier this month as Knull, the King in Black and Dark Lord of the symbiotes, descended upon Earth in superstar creative duo Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman’s KING IN BLACK #1! But he did not arrive unopposed.

Image Comics is pleased to unveil three stunning Spawn #314 covers drawn by Greg Capullo and inked by Image Comics Co-Founder Todd McFarlane, which will showcase the creative process from the raw pencils, to the inks, and finally the colored version. All three of these collectible covers will showcase the three steps in making a comic book cover and each will be available at comic shops in January.  

Earlier this year, Marvel Comics collaborated with Tsuburaya Productions to bring readers THE RISE OF ULTRAMAN, a thrilling comic series that introduced the pop culture icon to new fans and delighted longtime Ultraman enthusiasts. Following this soaring debut, the Ultraman saga will continue this March in THE TRIALS OF ULTRAMAN. Award-winning artist Michael Cho will bring some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes to life on a series of extraordinary variant covers this March. Done in his trademark two-tone style, these vibrant covers capture Marvel’s heroes at their most timeless versions.  

Diamond Comic Distributors is pleased to announce that Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), one of the comic book industry’s most beloved and anticipated celebrations, will once again be a single-day event, scheduled to take place Saturday, August 14, 2021. The event, which traditionally takes place on the first Saturday in May, will be celebrated in August 2021 in the hopes that much of the uncertainty and disruption related to COVID-19 will have passed.  

Marvel will honor the 50th anniversary of Man-Thing with a new series this March. The horror comics icon will star in AVENGERS: CURSE OF THE MAN-THING, the start of a three-part Marvel Universe-spanning saga that will redefine one of Marvel’s most unique characters for a new age. Critically acclaimed writer Steve Orlando (Martian Manhunter, Batman, Wonder Woman) makes his Marvel Comics debut with the series, joined by rising star artist Francesco Mobili (Old Man Hawkeye). Now, Marvel is proud to honor their tremendous contribution to the comic book industry with CAPTAIN AMERICA TRIBUTE #1, a giant-sized special celebrating the character’s 80th anniversary.  

During the formative years of the comic book industry, talented Black artists worked behind-the-scenes to create thrilling tales of superheroes, horror, and romance. Invisible Men: The Trailblazing Black Artists of Comic Books, a new hardcover book by comics historian Ken Quattro, is a riveting exploration of this little-known history, published by Yoe Books, an IDW imprint, and debuting today.
