Dynamite Entertainment today announced the upcoming release of the latest Lone Ranger® adventures, The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron. From Brett Matthews’s critically acclaimed take on The Lone Ranger to the exciting new series written by Ande Parks, Dynamite has had much success with America’s quintessential Western hero. The Lone Ranger: Snake of Iron #1 is written by comic book legend Chuck Dixon, drawn by Esteve Polls and with a cover by Dennis Calero will be available in comic book stores everywhere this July!  

Last month, Image Comics announced that Chris Giarrusso (G-MAN) would be creating special “cute” versions of the covers of classic Image titles, the first of which was YOUNGBLOOD, issued as a special limited-run variants cover of YOUNGBLOOD #71. Now, Image is unveiling the next cover in this series, a re-creation of SPAWN #1 by Todd McFarlane.  

Swedish black metal collective WATAIN today offer up the second in a series of trailers from their upcoming Opus Diaboli anniversary DVD. The production commemorates the band’s 13 years of chaos by providing a visual and audio documentation of their ceremonial anniversary concert performance in Stockholm and the long years of physical, intellectual and spiritual work leading up to it.

For the first time ever, the Meat Puppets’ story will be told in book form, when the authorized band bio, Too High to Die: Meet the Meat Puppets, is released on June 1, 2011. Journalist/book author/long-time Puppets fan Greg Prato wrote the book with full cooperation from the band.

When I was 10 years old, I was sporadically collecting comic books. An Incredible Hulk book here, a Mighty Thor book there. I remember going out one weekend with my mom, one of several weekend walks we would take to the large retail strips in the Bronx for her weekly shopping trips. On the way to those shops, we would stop at one of the various discount stores where I could shop for comic books (yes boys and girls, comic books used to be sold in discount stores way back when) As I went to my usual spot to browse for a book or two, whatever my dollar bill would buy me, I came across a book that would change my life forever….The Mighty Avengers #200, written by Jim Shooter and drawn by George Perez!
