June 16, 2020 – Valkyrie, the Rockbridge County, Va. band who MetalSucks said “have riffs tailor made for the big wide open: mountainous, thunderous, booming and earth-shaking,” have released a second song from the quartet’s forthcoming album, Fear (July 24, Relapse Records), debuting the track “The Choice” (https://youtu.be/jzrRaPghFtw).

“‘The Choice,’ while based on some personal struggles I’ve faced over the last few years, is largely about honoring your self worth enough to have confidence in your decisions and see things through,” explains singer/guitar player Jake Adams. “While I wrote the words, Pete wrote all the riffs on this one and what I love about the song is that the riffs really harken back to our youth in the ‘90s – when music was heavy but still had great melody. This song has lots of dimensions to it and really expands the palette that we traditionally work from.”

Fear is available on CD/LP/Digital. The eight-song release is available as a collectible, limited edition on white, silver and black splatter vinyl. A gold and black splatter iteration is now sold out. Pre-orders can be found via Relapse.com (http://bit.ly/valkyriefear). Valkyrie previously released the “crunchy” (Metal Injection) track “Feeling So Low” (https://youtu.be/7tr83PAJVxA), which is available as an instant download, as is “The Choice,” with digital album pre-orders (https://orcd.co/valkyriefear).

Valkyrie is Jake Adams (guitar/vocals), Pete Adams (guitar/vocals), Alan Fary (bass) and Warren Hawkins (drums). The Virginia-based band has released three albums: Valkyrie (2006), Man of Two Visions (2008) and Shadows (2015). Shadows, the band’s Relapse Records’ debut, was met with widespread praise. Treble Zine said of the seven-track album: “The Adams brothers haven’t lost their taste for straight forward southern metal, with heavy blues riffs and jagged vocals. A refreshing throwback to bands like Deep Purple, and even Skynyrd at their most acrobatic.”
