The Big Kahuna Comic Book News, News

Months after releasing 2019’s most talked-about comic, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force, Chicago’s Devil’s Due Comics has announced the formation of Ballot Box Comics: an imprint (a.k.a. subsidiary division) dedicated to progressive politics and populist movements that challenge both the right and the center-left.

“We’ve never thought of comics books as being limited to a specific genre,” explains Josh Blaylock, who founded Devil’s Due nearly twenty years ago. “They’re a powerful medium for all kinds of stories to be told. And with Ballot Box Comics, we’re excited to create engaging content with a political leaning, that pushes back against this administration’s off-the-rails status quo.”

Ballot Box Comics’ mandate is to produce original titiles for the percentage of the country that believes in such ‘radical’ causes as social equality and standing up to government corruption. “If there’s one thing the worldwide success of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force taught us,” Blaylock says, “it’s that politically and socially-minded comic book readers are seriously underrepresented.”

Ballot Box Comics’ flagship release is entitled Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: Ballot Box Collection. the 144-page trade paperback will be available at physical and online retailers on April 22, 2020, with pre-orders now available at www.OcasioComic.com. The book is chock full of short-form comics (depicting AOC, her Squad, and Bernie Sanders as corruption-fighting superheroes), satirical games, puzzles, Trump and GOP skewering, and much more. Conceived by Blaylock, The Ballot Box Collection features contributions by numerous award-winning artists, and contains three comics in one paperback collection:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: Squad Special (Brand new!)

Talk Bernie to Me: The Bernie Sanders Special & AOC Surprise (released July 2019)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? (released May 2019)
