Deadpool‘s post-credit scene had the Merc With a Mouth tell us straight up that we’d be getting Cable in the sequel. Some director changes later and we’ve finally got Josh Brolin at the time traveling mutant that has an extensive run with Deadpool, something that fans have always wanted to see.
Brolin, who also plays Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, certainly has the look of the mutant down. Given the Deadpool movies are going for a street level approach with some blockbuster elements attached, Brolin’s Cable ditches the blue and yellow coloring of his comics-counterpart and seems a lot grittier and down to Earth. Don’t worry, though: he clearly has a robot arm and eye.
Deadpool 2, or whatever it’s going to be called, will be released next June.
