The Shazam film has always been the wildcard in the DCEU line-up. It’s not that the property has been odd or out of place for DC, but the fact that we’ve only heard that Dwayne Johnson is slated to play Black Adam, with a possible Black Adam spin-off in development. The curtain seems to lifted ever so slightly, as Warner Bros. has finally shed some details on the upcoming superhero film.

The Hollywood Reporter is currently saying that filming for Shazam will begin in January or February, with Lights Out and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg being attached to direct. Lights Out received positive reviews, and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation is being screened at Comic-Con with positive reception. With no word on if Dwayne Johnson will appear on it or who will be playing Billy Bastion or Shazam, there’s still a lot to be announced for this upcoming project.
