» Blog Archive Brendan Small Returns With Galaktikon II, New Single -

GalaktikonIt seems like everyone’s releasing new songs today. Yet, one can’t complain about that, since that’s just enough to end the week on a high note. Brendan Small, best known for being the mad genius behind Dethklok and the co-existing show, Metalocalypse, is back again after some years of absence in trying to bring Dethklok back, yet he’s bringing his solo project back to the forefront.

After releasing the first Galaktikon album in 2012, I recall sitting in my library at college and neglecting to do my proper studying because Brednan Small had just made an album so good that it required my attention. Combining various elements of metal and rock, while getting tastefully progressive as well, the first Galaktikon was an enjoyable experience that was over too soon. Five years on, and we’re underway with the promotion for Galaktikon II: Become the Storm. And we finally have a new song, linked below, to show proof.

While it may not be more Dethklok like fans initially wanted, Small is an excellent songwriter and incorporates elements from his previous project into this new release, which also includes Gene Hoglan and Bryan Beller. Essentially, this is Dethklok, or at least the people behind the instruments. That’s hardly something to complain about. Hoglan has even gone as far to saying that this album was initially conceived to be a Dethklok album, but due to issues with the rights of the Dethklok name, it’s Dethklok but without the name.

Galaktikon II: Become the Storm is due for release on August 25th. You can stream “My Name is Murder” below.
