Celtic Frost has been defunct and laid to rest for years, but Tom G. Fischer has been busy with his own personal demons and his new act, Triptykon. While the band is doing well, it seems the legacy left behind with Celtic Frost will always be a thorn in his side.
It was revealed yesterday that BMG will be reissuing classic Celtic Frost albums. Fischer, on his personal blog, had plenty to say on the matter as his own writings on the albums that were scheduled to be included are being censored.
Given this state of affairs, I no longer feel that I can endorse and support these reissues, as they no longer reflect the wishes, intentions, and identity of the band. Moreover, I personally do not view them as “official”, as none of the former members of Celtic Frost endorses them.
The entire blog post is available here to read, and is worth it, too, since it gives insight unto the state of affairs with Celtic Frost’s legacy.
Fischer last released music with Triptykon in 2014 with Melana Chasmata to positive reviews all around. The band has done tours since then to promote the album their sets often including Celtic Frost songs.
