Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell has passed away suddenly at the age of 52. Soundgarden were currently on tour and were in Detroit when news of Cornell’s passing was announced.
The band had recently embarked on a full scale North American tour, including several radio/festival shows. The band rose to the heights of super stardom in the the mid 90’s with the wave of GRUNGE Music that took the world by storm. Bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains joined Soundgarden, all coming from Seattle, to take the music scene by storm. In 2001, Cornell teamed up with three forths of the band Rage Against The Machine to form Audioslave. Cornell also released several solo albums before reforming with his band mates in Soundgarden. An autopsy will be performed to find the cause of death.
