One of the biggest mysteries of Marvel’s Phase Three in their Cinematic Universe was the ongoing search for the creative team behind Captain Marvel. The studio’s first female-led superhero movie, many fans have been clamoring for the character to received the blockbuster treatment. That dream is coming true, and now we finally have confirmation as to who will be helming Carol Danvers’ feature film debut.
Surprisingly enough, it will be not one but two directors in the seat for Captain Marvel. Mississippi Grind directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will both be making the jump to Hollywood from the indie scene. It was previously revealed that Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson of Room fame will be playing the titular character, with Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve both writing the script. No plot details have been revealed, other than Kevin Feige mentioning that it will take place both on Earth and in space.
Captain Marvel is slated for March 8, 2019. It is unknown if Carol will appear in either of the Avengers films slated for 2018 and 2019 respectively.
