It has been revealed this week that that No Country For Old Men and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin has been revealed to be Cable in the upcoming sequel to Deadpool.
Following over a year of speculation and creative departures from the film, Fox has finally settled on Brolin to play the time-traveling mutant. Since Deadpool’s post-credit scene revealed that Cable would be in the sequel, fans and actors have been voicing their support and desires for the role. Most notably was Stephen Lang of Avatar and Don’t Breathe fame, who gained massive support immediately after the film’s release. With filming scheduled to be starting this year, Brolin is going to have to devote enough time between playing the mad-titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Deadpool sequel.
Cable was born Nathan Summers and is most known for being a member of the X-Force, in which he first countered the Merc With A Mouth. Since then, he has gone on to star in multiple series, as well as two with Deadpool, in which they are famous for traveling through time as one of Marvel’s most unlikely of team-ups. It’s safe to assume that the Deadpool sequel will follow the beats of their shared series, but as of now nothing is confirmed outside of Cable and Domino (Zazie Beetz) making an appearance. More news as it comes.
