Mortality is reality we have to face in this current century, as a great many bands are embarking on farewell tours and putting out final albums left and right. At this point, it’s just best to be emotionally prepared for whoever calls it quits next.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Manowar are wrapping their career up. The larger-than-life (In Europe) metal band has been active since the 1980s and announced this morning the end of their long-standing career. The original post is as follows:

The Gods And Kings Tour was a groundbreaking moment in our career. The stage, sound, video and you, our fans, were magnificent!

Coming off such an amazing tour it was clear that the next time we must go even bigger and beyond anything we have ever done; something that will fulfill every Manowarrior’s dreams. Then that will be the ultimate moment to say Thank You and farewell!

The Final Battle will begin in Germany and take us all over the world to say goodbye to all of you.

There will certainly be a lot less testosterone in the genre when Manowar finishes this tour. Manowar will wrap up their career with thirteen albums, two of which are re-recorded versions of classics. Manowar are also credited with the phrase “true metal,” and we all know how far that term has come in recent years.
