Cough Still They PreyAbout six years ago, Richmond, Virginia doom-metallers Cough came into the spotlight of the underground metal scene. Ritual Abuse was a dark, twisted, and sickly forray into a drug-induced wasteland, and the reception for it only backed it up that this was a titanic album. Between the massive riffs and the haunting atmospheres, Cough became a behemoth among doom metal bands and not one to be taken lightly.

In those six years, the band went on to release splits with The Wounded Kings, and also a well-received one with Windhand, but since then Cough had been mostly silent about new music. Until recently, though, the band has  revealed that their third studio album will soon be available. Still They Pray will arrive on June 3rd, through Relapse Records, and will be produced by Electric Wizard’s Jus Osborn. If that isn’t enough to excite you, then the band has just released a new track from the album, “Dead Among the Roses,” which clocks in at just under 11 minutes. Previously, the band released “The Wounding Hours,” which is less intimidating in song length.

Currently Cough only has two tour dates planned, one in Bristol on June 3rd, and one in Philadelphia on October 1st. More info as it comes. You can pre-order the album here, stream “The Wounding Hours” below and “Dead Among the Roses” right here.
