Summer SlaughterUsually by now we have a general idea as to what bands will be on The Summer Slaughter tour through hints they drop during the year. Being that it’s April, it’s odd to not have any indication as to who we’ll be seeing on the massive extreme metal festival. Finally, the Facebook page for the tour has dropped its first hint at bands we’ll see this year, and it seems to be a bit for everyone.

The post is a combination of three bands, in which it strongly suggests that Cannibal Corpse, Nile, and After the Burial will be taking part this year, presumably with Cannibal Corpse headlining as they did in 2012 the last time they were on the festival. Nile, surprisingly, has never appeared on the tour previously, and would definitely shake things up a bit. After the Burial was scheduled to play last summer, however the band dropped due to the passing of guitarist Justin Lowe, so it seems they have made the decision to tour this year to make up for it.

Cannibal CorpseWith those three rumored, it’s possible to assume that Obscura will be making a return this year, as they had also dropped off due to visa issues. Other bands that are circulate around Summer Slaughter with no current touring plans include tech-thrashers Revocation, who have a new album due this year, and Fleshgod Apocalypse, who wrapped up their headlining tour in the US early this year. These are only predictions, but I would bet money that these bands have a good chance of showing up this year.

No dates have been announced yet. Summer Slaughter generally features a variety of extreme metal bands, anywhere between 8 – 10 of them, including local acts, as well. Last year’s lineup featured Arch Enemy, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, and several other acts, aside from the two that dropped off mentioned prior. More updates on this year’s tour as it comes.
