» Blog Archive Failure to tour as 4 piece in support of new album -

Failure return to the road in support of The Heart Is A Monster this October with a special friend in tow, former touring band member, Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age). Van Leeuwen was a touring member behind Fantastic Planet and played on four of the songs from The Heart Is A Monster.

This is a very special tour to me for a couple of reasons,” says singer/guitar player Ken Andrews. “One reason is the fact that we have some very cool bands joining us: Hum, Torche, Local H, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. The second reason this tour is so special to me is that we have managed to secure our dear friend and former band mate, Troy Van Leeuwen as the fourth member of Failure for this tour. I’m personally excited by this as it’s going to allow us to expand our live sound and repertoire. Think “Snow Angel” and “I Can See Houses” from The Heart Is A Monster, as well as a few gems from the past like our cover of “Enjoy The Silence”.

Failure has also confirmed their Australian live debut with an outing on Soundwave 2016. Soundwave’s founder AJ Maddah took to Twitter and personally confirmed Failure’s appearance, saying “Getting Failure to play Soundwave 2015 is my personal definition of success! Fantastic Planet changed my life.”

The band, who wrapped up an extensive North American in support of the recently released album share footage from their Austin performance, with clips of “Mulholland Dr.” (http://vevo.ly/SdVqTY) and “Wet Gravity” (http://vevo.ly/9dtcXk). The album, which is the culmination of a reunion for the space rock trio that kicked off in February 2014, was released in June. Rolling Stone said the release “brilliantly picks up where Fantastic Planet left off,” Alternative Press said “by reviving its past, Failure has taken a most decisive step into the present and Entertainment Weekly described The Heart Is A Monster as “a jaw-dropping slab of throbbing, fuzzy, visceral space rock.”
