“ I never would have imagined so many worlds that have so many iterations…why do they resonate like this through time and space…what is so special about them?
-Deimos

Yes folks, they all matter, they all exist, and most of all…..their CONVERGING. DC’s Convergence plot is just what the doctor ordered in balancing the scales through time and space of every DC reality having a place within their own existing reality.

As character development emerges through Brainiac’s henchmen Telos, we see a story of redemption of how this man was stolen from his reality and forced to become a ploy in having each DC realm battle it out for only one reality having the chance to live and exist. What becomes intriguing is that while the art and fight scenes promise epic action, the heroes from parallel dimensions eventually strive for the right of every alternate reality to have a place within DC’s infinite universe. With the evil Warlock Deimos (no mistake meaning dread, and terror in Greek) conquering Brainiac’s plan of having city vs. city, and having instead his followers do his bidding with the promise of survival, we get an all out war of different ideologies in regards to the meaning of “being a hero.” More fascinating in my opinion is that rather than have the storyline combine existing universes into a single amalgamated unit, we get to relish in having all our favorite canon and altered characters merged within current continuity. This is key for what makes Convergence so promising. The mere fact that the rich history of unlimited heroes and villains from countless worlds such as “Kingdom-Come, Zero-Hour, Elseworlds, Flashpoint, pre/post-52, and even those expanding from Final Crisis domains” do indeed MATTER. Thus, what ever happens in the aftermath of convergence, fans from rivaling perspectives can have a sense of comfort that each rendition spanning from the Gold, Silver, Bronze, and modern age will not go in vain, nor be seen as null and void. Although it would have been intriguing to see Frank Millers “Dark Knight” make an appearance or cameo for that matter, its still satisfying that the universal map of DC’s creations all play a part in the cosmos of DC’s grand scheme.

With the final issue right around the corner, the key is to determine the infinite galaxies role in the evolving of such character placement. What will become of the Pre-52 Lois and Clark’s son, is Parallax up to his old schemes, or will Earth-1191 of the Vampire-Batman play a pivotal role? Either way, each version has to hold their boundaries together before their fates are perished from the grasp of Deimos. Speaking of fates, one wonders with the appearance of the 52 Batman (See issue 40 of Snyder at Caoullo’s Batman), how does the time line work during this tale? Yet, with space, time, and reality all out of flux, convergence becomes too complex to have a final understanding of it environmental setting. Regardless, it is said best from the words of Telos who explains “I will help them, they were cast aside, forgotten…..but they will live…..

There you have it. This adrenaline hyped venture becomes one of life and struggle. After all DC’s heroes not only sacrificed themselves for the sanctity of life, but for what comes during it through innovation As the omnipotent Oracle indicates “I see it now…I can finally rest…your futures…are unknown.” Pondering this, maybe each world was never set in stone. Therefore with this acknowledgment, will each pocket universe stand the test of time, or will the ripples of chaos fracture the milky-ways of each world as things converge?
