Just watched Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the one thing I have to say is…STOP MAKING SUPERHERO BASED SHOWS WITHOUT SUPERHEROES!!! Marvel had it all going good with their current movie franchise. Marvel Studios had a grand plan, that everyone in Hollywood said they were crazy to attempt. Merging and crossing over all their single hero movies into the mega blockbuster release “The Avengers”. Guess what? They succeeded…boy did they succeed! So much so that Fox has hinted that their up coming Fantastic Four film and current X-Men franchise will eventually cross pollinate in a shared Universe. Now granted this is just a view of the first episode of Agents…but if they abandon this most successful endeavor that has been such a major hit for them, and start going with the “We’re not going to show any Marvel Heroes” , then this series is DOOMED faster than you can say Latveria…get what I did their!
The problem seems to stem from the fact that Marvel and the other producers on the show (Avengers director Joss Whedon and brother Jed and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen) seem to have gotten stuck on this “We’ll create a superhero based show with no actual Marvel Superheroes) I don’t understand this concept that movie studios have in creating shows based on superhero tentpoles and then saying “well we’re not going to use any actual superheroes”. Fox just announced a full season pick up of the show GOTHAM, featuring a young James Gordon and a vast array of Gotham’s famous villains but ummm, no Batman…Huh?) Marvel is known to have a vast library of characters in the Marvel Universe. B level, C level and even D level characters that would be great for this show. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Cloak and Dagger, Carol Danvers, Wonder Man…on and on and on. If they do not utilize this opportunity for that cause and try to do the whole misfit “HEROES” motif that eventually went on to sink that promising show from some years ago…then it will be one and done for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Agent Coulson will have to yet come back from the dead!

My comment concerns the standard of English that your critic uses; hanging sentences, incorrect spelling, poor grammar, convoluted structure. I was very interested to read this article but in its present form it is virtually unreadable!

Actually, that sounds awesome. In all Batman movies, the villain is always the central aspect, the thing people care about the most. if the casting is good then a show spotlighting them should be incredible.

I’m not out to hurt anyone’s feelings, but your writing skills need SO much work. That was actually physically painful.

What happen to the new Hulk T.V. series that is suppose to be coming out? Yes, I think Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. needs some super heroes in it. When I saw the trailer I thought that black guy jumping out of the building was Luke Cage but I was clearly wrong. That was one reason why I was so hyped about the show cuz I thought there would be super heroes in the show. All in all I thought the premier was good. Can’t wait for the next episode.

I have to agree. My 6 year old watched it. Half-way through he asked “Where is Iron Man?” I said that he isn’t in it…it’s just the agents of shield. My son then lost all interest in it.

    Well….

1 episode and you are already willing to talk about it so negatively? Did you like anything about the episode? Or should Marvel put it back into rewrites for all the other episodes because there were no “superheroes” in the first episode?

What is your definition of superhero? Is it someone who is super humanly strong? hmmm… I think he climbed a wall by simply chunking out holes with his BARE FINGERS.

Is it someone who can glow with an inner light indicating they are going to explode with huge energy? hmmm… I am pretty sure that I saw his body glow indicating veins and capillaries were getting ready to let loose!

Or is it someone who we have seen in the comics before and that have a recognizable name like, Hulk, Thor, Ironman, Spiderman or Superman?

Maybe you need to give it a little time and see what happens next?

Dont cancel it before we know what happened in “tahiti!” Writers who use foreshadowing are the good.

You cant say no to Whedon, if you really are a comic fan you´ll love this series!!! You really dont know anything of S.H.I.E.L.D if u think they need superheroes to save the day, Nick Fury is like a God for almost all the avengers in the comics, he literally have a plan for any apocalypse, he rules!

This is just sad. One episode and you are already deciding about it.

Here is a clue for you: This is a comic book based show not a SuperHero based show. The Marvel Universe is a vast thing with a lot of interesting aspects and this show is highlighting one of them.

Try showing even a hint of patience and give the show a chance. It comes from good people who always have had interesting ideas in the past. It has a good cast and lots of potential.

Isn’t the black hero in ep one supposed to be powerman aka Luke cage? I should go re watch it I don’t remember if they said his name yet. But if is, he is a hero in the marvel universe and you will see Marvel hero’s just not the most popular ones.

Heroes like Nova/white tiger/iron fist, hell maybe even the new peter parker from the amazing spiderman reboot

The point of the article is that they are selling this as a “oohh, see what Marvel hero pops up next on the show” kind of deal. And when you do that and don’t show Marvel heroes, you begin to lose the audience. Now they are going to have to rely on surprise pop up characters at the end of every episode…ergo Nick Fury at the end of episode 2.

…And no, Joss Whedon is not a god amongst men when it comes to directing and creating. I will admit I thought Firefly/Serenity was amazing, one of my favorite shows…other than that…Eehhh!

He has a win lose record…Buffy, Angel – Wins… Doll House, Alien Resurrection, Wonder Woman never happened project – Lose

The story isn’t about the Heroes! It’s about the AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D, why do you think they called it like that? if it’s about Superheroes, why there is no super hero? BECAUSE IT ISN’T!

    a) The show is named “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” not the Avengers and family.

    b) It is for adults (18 and above), not kids who want a toy in their cereal.

c)If you don’t like it, DON’T WATCH IT!
