Amazon has taken to the web and announced that the have sold out of launch day consoles due to the massive amount of pre-orders. In a post on Facebook, the company explained that Standard Editions will still be offered, but these are unlikely to arrive on release day. It’s unclear if more consoles will be stocked to the retailer as a result.“After a crazy and exciting month, we’ve sold through our initial allocations of PS4 and Xbox One,” the post reads. “Thank you to all who have ordered and shared your opinions. We have the Standard Editions for both consoles still available, but we can’t guarantee these at release. Please check back here as we’ll update you first if we receive further release day allocations.”
These two next-gen consoles have shattered the pre-order records of previous systems with 2,500 consoles purchased per minute through this single online retailer. Amazon follows Gamestops halt on PS4 orders as well as Best Buy for the Xbox One. Clearly Microsoft didn’t offend that many people if they are rushing to preorder the console.
