Nintendo has announced that they plan to do a whole slough of new 3D games aired to release in October. The rumor comes for CV claiming “discussions with retail chains at executive level.” With many knocking the console because of it’s lack of games released and it’s price it’s about time they made up for it. However in this discussion they “have helped restore retailers’ faith in the console, which has been hit by errors since launch.” There is still a lot of speculation as to if this console came to early trying to get an edge on the new Xbox and Playstation console a year before. In my opinion, trying to get ahead of the game, put them way behind.
I think there’s no better way then trying to reboot a consoles image than by releasing an exclusive title that is loved by fans. Mario is one of the most beloved games in the Nintendo series. Better than just announcing Nintendo will be previewing it at E3 this June in California as well as previous titles that were previously promised. These titles include a new Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. However, none of these titles have been confirmed for the near future. The only games that have been announced in certainty are a new Pikman 3 this summer and an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker this fall.
This console really seamed ahead of it’s time when it first aired. A screen on the controller, 3D compatibility and an ingenious way of interaction, like Nintendo does. The negative response that it has had thus far has been extremely disheartening. Most modern gamers grew up on Nintendo, what with Duck Hunt, Zelda, and Mario being amongst some of the most beloved titles in gaming history. What happened? Why is everyone so upset about the WiiU? Simply put, they are not producing what they promised. There are not enough titles released for the console and it’s not keeping up to times with the Xbox and Playstation. Hopefully Nintendo is taking a hint and busting their behinds to push, because if they don’t… I’m afraid that in the next wave of consoles there won’t be a spot for Nintendo.
