From down south. No, further south. Guanajuato, Mexico. Ominous Crucifix is bringing some much needed Satanism back to death metal. They are from Mexico, but the songs are all sung in English. It’s a bit different from other Mexican death metal albums in that it doesn’t have much blasting, its more intricate & there’s melodies. More like Scandinavian death metal.
Track four, “Defiling the Altars of an Absent God” stood out to me as my favorite song. It starts off with a hefty dialog between a priest & a young girl as he’s whipping her. This is the their first full length album after some splits & demos & such, I have to say its very impressive, they know what what it means to be a death metal band. A very Satanic one at that.
This eight track album will be available through FDA Rekotz on January 13th in Germany & February 6th everywhere else. I think this will stand out in your death metal collection, its modern yet true to the genre.
