alexaXrossiya Hard Music, News, Reviews

The night kicked off with Rex Brown’s new band Kill Devil Hill, a Southern Metal band with Rex on bass, Vinny Appice on drums, Mark Zavon playing guitar & not much known is about their singer,  Dewey Bragg, but he resembled Layne Staley vocal wise, but with a much better beard. Really amazing band, they have a new album coming out March 27th through SPV Music Blanket.

It was mostly random pairings & made up groups playing covers, which was a very cool sight. Scott Ian & his wife Pearl played a beautiful rendition of “Wish You Were Here” with Jerry Cantrell. John 5 helped cover some Iron Maiden & Van Halen, David Draimen from Disturbed doing some Guns n Roses & Pantera. Sebastian Bach, Ripper Owens, Doug Pinnick from King’s X, Ben Harper, Phil Demmel from Machine Head, Gene Hoglan, Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies, Chris Howorth of In This Moment.

Serj Tankian & Tom Morello did an intense performance of  “Ghost of Tom Joad.” One of Ronnie James Dio’s favorite singers Glenn Hughes performed for him. Geezer Butler showed up & played two Black Sabbath songs with David Draimen from Disturbed acting as Ronnie James Dio & Sebastian Bach as Ozzy.

The best part of the night was the final song, absolutely everyone jumped on stage & played a nearly 8 minute performance of “Walk.”  The energy on stage & off was incredible, everyone on stage put on the best show they ever played & had the best time doing it. Everyone had an amazing time to celebrate both the lives of Dimebag Darrel & Ronnie James Dio.  All the proceeds went to the Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund.
