The Stan Lee Foundation and Todd McFarlane invite comics artists to create a superhero character that will excite a global audience. What can your superhero do? What are your superhero’s special powers? How can they help the world?

WHO IT’S FROM The Stan Lee Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide access to literacy, education and the arts throughout the nation. The Foundation will provide guidance, leadership and resources with other organizations that share its passion for quality in these fields.Todd McFarlane is a cartoonist, writer, toy designer and entrepreneur, best known for his work in comic books, such as the fantasy series Spawn. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, McFarlane became a comic book superstar due to his work on Marvel Comic’s Spider-Man franchise. He later helped form Image Comics, pulling the occult anti-hero character Spawn from his high school portfolio and updating him for the 1990s. Spawn was a popular hero in the 1990s and encouraged a trend in creator-owned comic book properties.

Prismacolor is a brand of professional artists’ supplies originated by Berol in 1938, and now manufactured by Sanford, the makers of Sharpie markers. Among the items in the Prismacolor line are color pencils, Art Stix, pastels, watercolors, and alcohol-based permanent art markers.

   
HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN The winner will be chosen from the 20 highest voted submissions, however The Stan Lee Foundation may look beyond these finalists to select the submission that they feel best fits their requirements.
   
WHAT THE WINNER WILL GET Talenthouse will facilitate introductions for the winning designer with the film and television studios and social gaming industries. The selected design will be made into either an action figure or sculpture of which The Stan Lee Foundation will make a limited number to give away to specific donors of the Foundation.The winner will also be presented with an award by Stan Lee at Comic-Con San Diego 2011 and will spend a day with Todd McFarlane at his art studio production facility, Todd McFarlane Entertainment, Inc in Tempe, AZ. Travel and accommodation to San Diego and Tempe, plus tickets to Comic-Con will be provided for the winner. 

The top 100 highest voted submissions will receive a Prismacolor Premier Illustration Markers Set. 

The 20 highest voted submissions will also receive an official movie poster from one of the Marvel movies signed by Stan Lee.

   
WHAT TO DO NEXT Click ‘Participate’ and submit your designs via jpg format. Good luck! PLEASE REVIEW THE DETAILS BELOW BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR DESIGN. SUBMISSIONS THAT DO NOT MEET THE STAN LEE FOUNDATION’S REQUEST WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
   
DETAILS Submissions must NOT include any published characters nor any Marvel characters (such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four). The design must be totally original and unique.Stan Lee, while advising the Foundation creatively when asked to do so, is neither a director, officer or employee.
