Chicago’s KOMMANDANT has announced that they will be entering the studio early next year to record the follow up to the highly acclaimed Kontakt. Guitarist Jim Bresnahan commented on the upcoming recording:

“Kommandant has confirmed studio dates for February 2011 to begin recording the new album to be titled The Draconian Archetype. This will be the first studio recording featuring new bass player Mike Coniglio and drummer Dave Swanson, who moved over to drums from bass earlier this year. Recording will take place at Bell City Sound in Racine, WI with producer Chris Djuric in the control room. This will be Kommandant’s sophmore effort at this studio following the Kontakt release earlier this year.”

Kontakt was released on September 11, 2010 on Planet Metal.

Kontakt is a great listen. Kommandant has obviously gone to great lengths to ensure that the songs stand up individually and is a step up from what they offered last time around. On both accounts, Kommandant have well and truly succeeded, and it’s those factors that earn their latest release some well deserved credit as their finest effort yet.” – Blistering.com

“Songs are well written, memorable and easy to get into. These guys got a great recording without losing the raw edge that makes Black Metal what it is…harsh and punishing.” – KikAxeMusic.com

Kontakt is a fiery frontal assault of headcrushing black metal.” – Corazine

Kontakt is another great release of chaotic sounds that are here to twist and turn the listener in every direction.” – Absolute Zero
