The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News

October 12 saw the release of Epic, Steve’s new full-length CD/DVD. Digital release on 10/12, in stores on 10/26. Epic breaks the tradition of guitar instrumental records by fusing cinematic composition and rock production elements seamlessly with intense and varied guitar performances ranging from western to blues to shred.

Steve Ouimette is renowned for his versatility and excellence as a composer/producer and multi-instrumentalist.  Bringing an infectious energy, personable style and passion to every project he works on regardless of size, scope or timeframe, Steve’s composing and peformance credits include video games, film, television and advertising

Beginning in 2007 with Guitar Hero 3 Steve has been involved in every release of the Activision franchise including Band Hero, contributing exacting covers and  extraordinary reworks of classics (The Devil Went Down To Georgia, We Three Kings, Dueling Banjos, National Anthems) as well as intro themes, underscore and sound design. During this time he has earned a reputation for creating intense tracks that are some of the most popular and challenging to complete in the game, leading to millions of downloads of his DLC songs and creating a rabid following on YouTube and Facebook.  To date he has played, engineered and produced nearly 100 tracks for Guitar Hero and Konami music games.  Steve has also brought his chameleon-like guitar skills to other A-list composers Inon Zur, Tom Salta and Richard Jacques on projects ranging from Dragon Age: Origins – Leliana’s Song DLC, Red Steel 2, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X 2 and the upcoming Activision title, James Bond 007: Blood Stone to name a few.

When not writing for videogames Steve actively composes, records and produces original music for libraries (APM, Universal and Bruton) that have landed him placements on Showtime, ESPN, WWE, and IIFL Hockey.  He has also been welcomed into the X-Ray Dog film trailer team and his music is featured on multiple releases for 2010.  An accomplished sound designer, in late 2009 Steve teamed up with virtual instrument company Sample Logic to create Cinematic Guitars.  Released September 2010 Cinematic Guitars is an extensive collection of atmospheres, instrumentals, and percussive sounds unlike any ever heard before and targeted directly at the video game and film composer.

As a direct response to his popularity with guitar fans worldwide Steve will release Epic, a solo CD and companion DVD on Sumthing Else Music Works in Fall 2010.  An eclectic mix of guitar-laden virtuosity and wide reaching styles, Epic promises to shine new light on guitar instrumental music by fusing cinematic drama and intensity while still satisfying the desires of his Guitar Hero fan base.

Steve is also a regular contributor for Premier Guitar Magazine where he writes a monthly column as well as gear reviews and articles
