The Big Kahuna Comic Book News

With casting on Marvel’s first live-action Norse God solo film Thor rolling in slowly but surely, the movies direction is pushing it’s way into the spotlight. With the hiring of Shakespearean regular Kenneth Brannagh to helm the picture, an Old-English speaking Thor was almost assured and later confirmed by a Marvel Big Wig or two. From the point of view of most page flipping fanboys, this would seem a natural move as the character is often represented on the page in a very Old-English, Shakespearean, mythic mentality. However, in other versions of the characters, more specifically The Ultimates books, where Thor sports a supped up vest and a bad ass goatee.File:Th Ultimates 012 - page 39-40.jpg

The Ultimates version of The Nose Thunder God was well received by many fans and used in other media besides the comics, both cartoon and video game alike. With these representations and an Ultimates style Nick Fury, it would not have come to much surprise if Thor looks the part of his Ultimates counterpart when he joins the rest of his Avenger clan in their feature film, since we know he probably will not in his Brannagh directed solo flick. The question is, will a prose spouting Thunder God pull us closer or push us away? Should Marvel have gone Ultimate all the way? Even if they do at all? What do you think?
